This Privacy Policy explains how ChapterLingo collects, uses, and protects information when you use the www.chapterlingo.com website and AI generation service.
Who controls your data
The data controller is ChapterLingo, operated as an individual sole proprietorship. For any privacy question, data request, or complaint, write to support@chapterlingo.com.
Information we collect
You give us:
- Account information — email address, and the name and profile image supplied by Google or GitHub if you sign in that way
- Content you submit — prompts, uploaded images and videos, and model settings
- Support messages you send us
We collect automatically:
- Generation records — the model used, credits spent, status, and the result files
- Usage and device data — IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and referring page
- Server logs used for security, abuse prevention, and debugging
How we use information
We use information to provide generation features, manage credits, process payments, prevent abuse and prohibited content, improve reliability, respond to support requests, and comply with the law.
Payments
Payments are processed by our payment providers — Stripe, and Waffo Pancake for purchases made through the Waffo Pancake checkout. Your card number, expiry, and security code are entered on the provider's own checkout page and are never stored on ChapterLingo's servers — we only receive the outcome of the transaction and a masked reference for your billing history. The provider handling your purchase is shown at checkout and on your receipt.
We do not sell your personal information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising or marketing purposes.

For a generation request, your prompt and uploaded media are sent to the AI provider serving the model you selected, which routes to the underlying model vendor — including Google, ByteDance, Kuaishou, or OpenAI. Your content is not used to train ChapterLingo's models.
Advertising and analytics
Some pages show ads served by Google AdSense, which may set cookies to measure and personalize advertising. You can manage this at Google Ads Settings or opt out industry-wide at youradchoices.com. Microsoft Clarity records anonymized interaction data and session replays to help us find usability problems; Plausible collects aggregate traffic data without cookies.
International transfers
ChapterLingo and its providers operate globally, so your information may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Where data leaves the EEA or the UK, transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent approved safeguard put in place by the provider.
Data retention

After these periods, data is deleted or irreversibly anonymized for aggregate statistics.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you, and receive a copy
- Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Delete your account and personal data — available directly at Settings → Security
- Port your data to another service in a machine-readable format
- Restrict or object to processing, including profiling for abuse detection
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out
Write to support@chapterlingo.com and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Marketing and notifications
Service emails — verification, receipts, renewal reminders, and security notices — are essential to your account and cannot be switched off while the account is open. Any marketing or product-update email is separate and carries a one-click unsubscribe link in every message; unsubscribing there never affects service emails.
Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest for stored files, access controls, and least-privilege credentials to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and, where required, the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of it.
Children
ChapterLingo is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us so we can delete it.
Browser extension
The "Edit with ChapterLingo" Chrome extension does not collect, store, sell, or transmit any personal data, and it does not use analytics or track your browsing. It adds an "Edit with ChapterLingo" entry to the browser's right-click menu on images. When you choose a tool, it opens a new tab on www.chapterlingo.com and includes the URL of the image you clicked as a parameter so the studio can load it for editing — the same as if you navigated there yourself. The extension requests a single permission, contextMenus, and loads no remote code.
Changes
We may update this policy as the service changes. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date at least 15 days before they take effect, and notified by email where the change materially affects your rights.
